New house builds increase by almost 50 per cent in Kerry

house buildingHouse building is on the rise in Kerry. The National Housing Construction Index issued by Link2Plans is showing strong confidence in the residential sector. In Kerry, the number of new planning applications lodged in the first six months is up 32 per cent year on year. The county was the fifth best performing county in the country. Applications rose from 169 in the first six months of 2013 to 223 for the same period this year. Over half of the counties in the country recorded an increase in planning applications with Dublin again recording the biggest gain with an increase of over 63 per cent. Link2Plans says this is a sure sign of confidence returning to the construction sector. Project commencements in Kerry are up 49 per cent when compared to the same period in 2013.
