The Shannon Foynes Port Company is to create 25 jobs in the next two years with the setting up of a container service to Rotterdam. The service will begin later this month and will run once a week from Foynes Port. The port company predicts that customers will save 40 per cent and two million tonnes will be taken off the roads. Timelines will run the service with a 3,300 tonne vessel which will provide a scheduled connection to Rotterdam and onward connections.
