Almost 200 farmers in Kerry are still waiting payment under an agri-environmental scheme.
Figures released to Kerry Fianna Fail Deputy John Brassil show that 187 farmers in the county are still being processed for payments under the first two tranches of GLAS.
Deputy Brassil hit out at Agriculture Minister Michael Creed saying the situation has gone beyond a joke with 3,000 farmers yet to be paid nationally.
He said this is causing serious financial trouble on farms where works were carried out on the expectation that payment would be made by the end of 2016.
It’s understood the delays are caused by mandatory checks which need to be carried out on each application by the Department of Agriculture.
