Munster has 2nd most active number of files examined by the Equal Authority

Munster has the second most active number of case files examined by the Equality Authority according to its annual report. There has also been growth in the number of allegations of discrimination in relation to the provision of accommodation by local authorities. According to the annual report race and traveller grounds continue to dominate in the case files, but migrant workers continue to face difficulties. In the region 146 cases under the equal status act were dealt with in 2004.Across the board Munster came second only to Leinster on the table of case files dealt with by the authority. These include cases that came under the Employment Equality Act, Intoxicating Liquor Act and the Equal Status Act. Allegations of discrimination on the grounds of race was the largest category of complaint dealt with by the authority nationally.
