Mr Justice Smyth rules on Judge Curtin’s application for legal costs

Judge Curtin has been partially successful in his application for legal costs after The High Court dismissed his challenge to the Oireachtas Committee set up to investigate his case. Mr Justice Smyth has ruled that if there is no appeal to the Supreme Court, Judge Curtin will not have to pay the judicial review costs of the select committee set up by the Oireachtas. However he will have to bear the costs of his own legal team. Judge Curtin has yet to decide whether to appeal The High Court decision. The judge was acquitted in Tralee Circuit Court last year of possessing child pornography.
