Land zoned for housing in the Tralee area has been sold for over 16 million euro in a deal believed to the largest land sale ever made in the county. The deal consists of the sale of around 55 acres in Mounthawk , land that is already zoned for residential housing. Carrigaline property company letter Gorman Holdings Ltd have bought the land from farmer Pat Murphy. The company , which is part of Cork property empire Ruden Homes, now have plans for major housing developments. Up to 400 houses can be built on the land and it’s estimated this will generate sales for the property developer of up to 140 million euro. However, while the land is zoned for housing, it does not have planning permission. Auctioneers Sherry Fitzgerald O`Connell in Tralee arranged the sale by private tender.
