North Kerry will have to provide more accommodation if they are to attract more visitors to the region according to its new marketing body. The Chief Executive of Cork Kerry Tourism says while the region has undiscovered tourist potential it has a limited accommodation base, particularly Listowel and its surrounding areas. In a presentation to members of Listowel Town Council Maura Moynihan outlined the marketing plans for North Kerry as a tourism product. She said the region has many attractions including an historical and cultural heritage.Listowel, Ballybunion and in particular the north of the counties coastline were hidden in the Irish tourist market and these would be marketed vigorously by Cork Kerry. However Ms Moynihan remarked that more accommodation was needed in the region to increase the visitor`s length of stay and increase revenue into the area. She said Kerry is more widely known overseas than cork and so the marketing of the county as a whole overseas should prove successful for North Kerry due in no small part to their proximity to Shannon Airport.
