More participants sought for the Rural Social Scheme in Kerry

More participants are being sought for the Rural Social Scheme in Kerry.

The scheme was launched in 2004 as a way to help boost small farmer’s income and combat rural isolation.

Farmers work 19-and-a-half-hours per week across community projects such as tidy towns, family resource centres and meals on wheels.

In the Budget, 500 more places were announced and North East West Kerry Development has applied to add to the 89 farmers currently on the scheme.
