More can be done to promote tourism in North Kerry, say two County Councillors. Both Councillor John Lucid and Councillor Mike Kennelly brought motions relating to tourism in North Kerry to the monthly meeting of the Listowel Municipal District. Councillor Lucid asked Kerry County Council to investigate the possibility of acquiring land in Kerryhead to provide an appropriate viewing area on the Wild Atlantic Way. He said the Wild Atlantic Way has been hugely successful in bringing people to North Kerry, and the viewing area would be an additional attraction. Meanwhile, Councillor Kennelly proposed a bike stop to be installed in towns and villages throughout North Kerry. He claimed while the county council appear to promote cycling in Kerry, the lack of adequate facilities for the safe keeping of bicycles contradicts this. In response, Kerry County Council said both proposals are being investigated with regard to cost and locations.
