A special monument unveiling has taken place today to remember all who lost their lives in Ballinskelligs Bay.
The monument which is situated on the Waterville promenade also honours the dedication and bravery of the Marine Rescue Services.
2016 is the centenary of a tragic period in Ballinskelligs bay.
Five crewmen of the Danish ship Eliezer died in the Bay in November 1916.
The same year also saw four Iveragh crewmen of a four-oar boat drown.
Mícheál Hallissey a member of Heritage Iveragh who organised the event said it is also important to honour those people who risk their lives to assist others at sea.
