The Government’s decision to abandon e-voting for the June elections has been greeted with mixed reaction by Kerry Councillors. Deputy Mayor of Killarney, Fianna Fail’s Sheila Dickson said that she was pleased that e-voting had been abandoned, as she believed people weren’t fully ready to use the system. However, she rejected suggestions that the government had wasted the millions already spent on electronic voting. Meanwhile, Fine Gael`s Brendan Griffin said he was disgusted with what he believes is ‘money wasted’ on the e-voting system. Speaking this afternoon on ‘The Open Mic’, he said that he personally had invested heavily in the promotion of electronic voting.
