Minister says CF unit can’t be opened yet because of staffing issues

A new unit for cystic fibrosis sufferers at Cork University Hospital will be opened as soon as it can be safely and effectively staffed. kathleenlynch That’s according to the Minister of State for Health, Kathleen Lynch who was responding to questions from Kerry TDs Tom Fleming, Michael Healy-Rae and Martin Ferris in the Dáil. Earlier this week, it was revealed that a new ward for CF patients at the hospital remains closed despite an expectation that it was to open in February. Kerry-based charity Build4Life raised €2.3 million to construct and fit out the facility. Minister Kathleen Lynch admitted that there is a difficulty with the recruitment of nurses.
