Councillor Michael Cahill has confirmed that he will not be contesting this year’s General Election. Cllr Cahill who resigned from Fianna Fáil in 2011 to support Tom Fleming said that having given the matter considerable consideration, the time available was simply just too short. Mr Cahill said that if he had a another few weeks to get organised he would definitely have allowed his name to go forward. The independent councillor from Rossbeigh said he wished to thank everyone who has contacted him and encouraged him to run from all parts of the constituency. Cllr. Cahill also said he wanted to wish Deputy Fleming, who will not be standing in the General Election, and his family the very best.
