Meeting to discuss future of Jeanie Johnston to take place.

The Jeanie Johnston should continue to be an Irish project according to the Chairman of the Project Hugh Friel. Officials from the Department of Defence are to organise a meeting with the Board of the ship to discuss the it’s future. Radio Kerry News understands the meeting will take place as soon as possible.According to Mr Friel the Bord is no longer in a position to continue to run the ship. He says he would regret having to sell the Jeanie privately, however if the Government does not take it over they will have no choice. Speaking on this mornings Kerry Today he said the proper infrastructure must be in place for the ship to run successfully and the Government is the obvious new owner.
