A man caught with over €5,000 worth of cannabis in the wardrobe of his bedroom has had his sentencing hearing adjourned. 25 year old Sean O’Brien of 11 Carrigmore, Caherslee, Tralee pleaded guilty to having cannabis for sale or supply on 18th August, 2014. Following confidential information Gardai went to the house Sean O’Brien lives in with his parents to execute a search warrant. He brought to his bedroom where he had herbal cannabis, scales and other paraphernalia in a clothes chest in the wardrobe. The drugs had a street value of over €5,200. The court heard Mr O’Brien, who is a qualified quantity surveyor, is from a very respectable family and the discovery was a shock to his parents. Mr O’Brien was a heavy enough cannabis user and was dealing mainly to feed his own habit and his barrister Brian McInerney said his client was glad the matter was brought to a head and was at a low risk of reoffending. Judge Tom O’Donnell said it was any parent’s worst nightmare to have their home raided by Gardai. He said he was going to read a probation report presented to him and would give his sentence on January 11th.
