Man sent forward for trial for assaulting garda causing him harm at Killarney hotel

Killarney District Court A man has been sent forward for trial for his part in an altercation at a Killarney hotel nearly three years ago in which two gardai were assaulted. Danny Dinan of 40 Forest View, Gouldshill, Mallow, was remanded in custody to the next sitting of Tralee Circuit Criminal Court. He is accused of assaulting a garda, causing him harm at the Quality Hotel, Killarney, in May 2013. A number of other people have already been before the courts in relation to the incident at the Quality Hotel nearly three years ago, Killarney District Court heard. Twenty-one-year old Danny Dinan is accused of assaulting Garda Nigel Shevlin, causing him harm at the hotel on May 19th, 2013. He is also accused of resisting the garda in the execution of his duty on that date. Inspector Tony Sugrue told the court gardai had been called to a disturbance at the hotel and when they arrived they saw a number of glass bottles and furniture being thrown. He said two gardai were assaulted by being kicked and punched in the face when they attempted to arrest the accused and another man. They required medical attention on the night but suffered no lasting damage, the court heard. Judge James O’Connor remanded the accused on continuing bail to the July sitting of Killarney District Court in relation to another charge against him of being intoxicated in public.
