A man has pleaded not guilty to three counts of sexually exploiting a child and two counts of sexually assaulting a female person.
42-year-old Richard Doyle of Listrim, The Spa, Tralee appeared before Tralee Circuit Criminal Court on the indictments.
A jury of six men and six women has been appointed in the trial which got underway today.
The accused is charged on three counts of sexually exploiting a child by inviting, inducing or coercing the child to engage or participate in a sexual, indecent or obscene act.
The alleged offences relate to dates unknown between November 1st and 30th, 2013; November 1st and December 31st, 2013 and January 1st and March 31st, 2014.
The accused is also charged with two counts of sexual assault of a female person on dates unknown between November 1st and December 31st 2013 and March 1st and March 31st 2014.
In outlining the charges to the jury, prosecuting barrister for the State Tom Rice said “consent is not an issue with regards to these matters”.
The case is being heard before Judge John Hannan; the trial is expected to last three days and will resume tomorrow morning.
