Man jailed for six months for stealing BMW key fob in Killarney

A man found asleep in the front seat of a car after damaging a shed and truck in Killarney had no memory of the event due to a substance he had taken. Gavel 2 Killarney District Court heard 31 year old Brian O’Sullivan of Coolies, Muckross was found by the owner of the car at Torc Heights, Dennehy’s Bohereen on October 1st. The court heard the owner and another man managed to hold onto the accused, who became aggressive when he awoke, until Gardai arrived on the scene.Mr O’Sullivan’s solicitor Padraig O’Connell said his client, a father of two, was a known addict who was in turmoil in an ongoing basis. He indicated his client would plead guilty if the matter was dealt with in the District Court. Judge James O’Connor declined jurisdiction in the case and remanded Mr O’Sullivan in custody until November 17th when he is due back before Killarney District Court.However, the judge handed Mr O’Sullivan a six month jail sentence on a second charge of stealing a 25 euro BMW key fob from a Killarney home on June 23rd 2013. The court was told Mr O’Sullivan has 50 previous convictions.
