Man in his 30’s dies following road traffic accident near Beaufort

      Garda Station signA man in his 30’s has died following a road traffic accident near Beaufort last night. He was fatally injured when the van he was driving lost control and collided with a tree. The deceased was the sole occupant of the van. He was removed to Kerry General Hospital, but died later as a result of his injuries. The accident occured near Beaufort at approximately 7:15 last night. This stretch of road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision  Investigators but has since reopened. The death brings to three the number of people that have been killed on our roads this bank holiday weekend. Yesterday, a motorcyclist in his late 20’s and a woman in her 80’s were killed when a motorcycle and car collided on the Athy to Ballitore Road in Kildare. The driver of the car – a man in his 80’s – remains in hospital with serious injuries.
