Man accused of ‘nasty’ unprovoked assaulted remanded on bail

A 19-year-old Tralee man, who attacked another man in an unprovoked assault, has been remanded on continuing bail to appear before Tralee District Court again on April 13th. Tralee courthouse2 Paddy O’Brien of 6 Thamhnach Lí, Monavalley, is accused of assault causing harm at Castle Street on June 4th last. He also faces charges of being intoxicated in public at Ivy Terrace, Tralee on August 15th and again at Abbeycourt on the same day, when he was also abusive and resisted a garda. Judge James O’Connor described the unprovoked assault as ‘nasty enough’ but accepted jurisdiction. The court heard Mr O’Brien was part of a group that attacked three men. It is alleged he punched and kicked his victim while on the ground causing him to have to spend two days in hospital.
