GardaThe Mobile Phone Enforcement Operation, carried out by the Kerry Garda Division, began at 7am this morning, and will continue until midnight. Inspector Tony Sugrue of the Traffic Corps, says the checks on drivers will be done both covertly and directly at checkpoints. Anyone found holding their phone in their hand while driving, could face up to five penalty points and a fine of 80 Euro or more.
