It’s reported Sam Warburton is thinking about standing down as Wales captain ahead of the rugby union Six Nations.

Alun Wyn-Jones would be the favourite to take over.

Warburton’s understood to be focused on making sure he has a starting place in the back-row.

The flanker’s captained his country more than any other Welshman.

GOLF

Jim Furyk is expected to be confirmed today as the USA’s Ryder Cup captain for 2018.

He was an assistant to last year’s winning skipper Davis Love the third at Hazeltine.

It’s understood Furyk’s been chosen ahead of Fred Couples to lead their trophy defence in Paris.

TENNIS

Ireland’s James McGee is into the second qualifying round at the Australian Open.

The Dubliner beat Matija Pecotic of Croatia 7-6 7-5 in this mornings first round qualifier.
