Listowel man pleads guilty to 11 sample charges of animal cruelty

A Listowel man has pleaded guilty to 11 sample charges of animal cruelty.

38-year-old Thomas Doyle of Fourhane, Listowel appeared before Tralee Circuit Criminal Court today.
Thomas Doyle entered a guilty plea on 11 sample charges under animal cruelty legislation, including causing or permitting animals unnecessary suffering, and failing to provide them with sufficient food and water.

The charges relate to dogs, pigs, ponies, a goat, a bird, a hamster, and a rat; he’s also charged with allowing the carcass of a foal to remain on his land unburied.

The incidents are alleged to have happened on dates unknown between December 23rd and 30th 2015 at Fourhane, Listowel.

Judge Tom O’Donnell adjourned the case until the 3rd of April to set a date for sentencing; it’ll allow time for medical reports to be prepared.
