Limerick road crash victim had strong links to North Kerry

A man who was killed in an overnight road accident in Tipperary had strong Kerry connections, it has emerged.

The 50-year-old, who was living in Limerick, sustained serious head injuries when the car he was driving left the road and crashed down an embankment on the M7 motorway between Birdhill and Castletroy.

The crash happened following a heavy shower of hailstones which made road conditions difficult.

The victim has not yet been named, and a post mortem is due to be carried out at University Hospital Limerick later today.

Although living in Limerick, the deceased has strong family connections to North Kerry and Tralee.
