Laying of underwater cable linking electricity substations to be complete in coming weeks

Work on the laying of the subsea electricity cable linking Moneypoint and Kilpaddoge electricity substations is expected to be completed over the coming weeks. Photo By : Domnick Walsh The project involves laying 3 km of High Voltage Alternate Current 220 kV power cable connecting the banks of the Shannon.  Difficult weather conditions temporarily delayed progress before Christmas.  The project is a joint development between EirGrid and ESB Networks.  Minister of State Jimmy Deenihan says it will make the Tarbert/Ballylongford land bank a more attractive place for future investment and development.
