Planning pressure in counties like Kerry could be relieved by setting up a ‘land- use commission’ to allow interested parties to draw up realistic guidelines on rural housing. That’s according to Fine Gael Environment Spokesperson Bernard Allen. Speaking on ‘Kerry Today’, Deputy Allen said that setting up such a commission, as well as a ‘re-zoning board’ would be among Fine Gael`s priorities when returned to Government. He said that the ‘re-zoning’ board wouldn’t take power away from local government, but would ensure that good guidelines were followed. On the subject of section 140 motions, Deputy Allen said did not believe that this power should be removed.
