Labour Senator and Euro South candidate Brendan Ryan says the limit for spending in the Euro Election Campaign is too high. The limit was raised yesterday by Ministerial order to 230,000 euro. Senator Ryan says increasing the limit leaves politicians open to being manipulated by outside influences and vested interests. He claims the problem arises when the public don’t know who is funding their representatives. FF M.E.P Brian Crowley says he has voted against issues because of minor amendments which could have a major impact on Munster. The spending limit only applies to the last five weeks of the campaign. Mr Crowley says he’ll be spending a modest sum on his campaign this June.
