A Killarney Hotel which was purchased by Crimmins Hotel & Leisure in May 2014 after spending several years in receivership is continuing its redevelopment. The 3 star 188 bedroom Hotel Killarney which caters for the family market is currently closed to facilitate the refurbishment of 40 bedrooms. Hotel Killarney is due to reopen in March. 2015 also saw the refurbishment of 40 bedrooms along with the lobby area and landscaping outside in the hotel formerly known as the Quality Hotel. The 14 acre hotel complex is also developing a 40 bedroom hostel in the former Ryan Hotel which has been vacant since 2009; this is due to open in April. 8 people are employed in the redevelopment works. It’s envisaged up to 15 people will be employed in the hostel, while Hotel Killarney employs 120 staff at peak season.
