Up to 400 conference delegates are in the county today for the annual gathering of the National Irish Safety Organisation. The group is meeting at The Great Southern Hotel in Killarney over the next 2 days. Health and safety in the changing Irish workplace is the main focus of this year’s event which is being run in conjunction with the Northern Ireland safety group.The conference will be formally opened this morning by the newly appointed Minister of State at The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment Tony Killeen. It’ll be attended by Managing Directors, human resource professionals and environmental health and safety managers. Spokesperson for the NISO George Brett says conferences like this one help companies stay within the law.
