Kerry’s Live Register has risen above the 15,000 mark for the first time in nine months. The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show the number signing on in the county last month was 15,126. The statistics show the live register has dropped by 10 per cent in comparison to January 2013. However, there is a monthly increase of 2-and-a-half per cent. Killarney had the largest monthly jump of over 170 to 2,875. Both Tralee and Listowel increase around 50 to 5,996 and 2,802 respectively. Kenmare also rises around 50 to 700. There are slight increases elsewhere; Killorglin to 1,239, Dingle 896 and Caherciveen to 618.
