Kerry ‘s Live Register has dropped by almost 20 per cent since the beginning of this year. According to the Central Statistics Office 11,210 people signed on at the county’s social welfare offices in October. In January 13,827 people signed on Kerry’s Live Register. Although a significant drop when compared to the start of the year October’s figure is a slight decrease on the previous month. Looking across the county Tralee, which has the highest number of people signing on, sees the largest monthly drop of 127 to 5,093. Listowel records a decline of 90 to 2,241. With the tourism season winding down both Killarney and Dingle show increases to 1,589 and 629 respectively. The other offices in the county have slight monthly jumps. Killorglin is at 899, Caherciveen at 420 and Kenmare has 339 people signing on.
