A Kerryman’s plight has highlighted the lack of resources in the health service in the county.
66-year-old Mike Horgan from Lisselton was waiting three weeks in University Hospital Kerry for a heart operation in Cork University Hospital.
When he eventually got called to go to Cork, there was no ambulance available in Kerry to transport him.
A Cork ambulance finally brought him to CUH last night, and he’s awaiting surgery there next week.
Ballybunion Sinn Féin Cllr Robert Beasley says Mr Horgan’s situation where first there was no bed for him, then no ambulance, highlights the lack of resources in the health service.
