Kerry world premier this evening for film about descendants of Blasket Island king

Film clip boardA documentary film that tells the tale of two cousins, who are descended from the Blasket Island king, has its world premier at the Dingle International Film Festival this evening. ‘The Crest’ features Andy Jacob from Cape Cod and Dennis ‘DK’ Kane from San Diego, great-great-grandsons of An Rí, Pádraig Ó Cáthain. Dennis came across an internet blog written by Andy about a family fiddle that had gone missing from a pub on Goat Street in Dingle. Recognising the story from his own family lore, Dennis contacted Andy. They discovered they share a love of the ocean, inherited from their ancestor, and met for the first time in West Kerry. Director Mark Covino will showcase his film at the Blasket Centre at 6pm this evening. He explains how the idea came about. [audio_player src=””]
