Kerry woman leads Team Ireland to several wins at world dance event

ballet dancer child from PixabayTeam Ireland has won a number of major accolades at the Barcelona Dance International Competition, under the direction of a Kerry woman. Clarissa Michaux from Cloghane is the founder of the Kerry-based Academy of Dance; she led the Irish team of 28 dancers at the annual festival of young dancers in Spain over the weekend. Team Ireland won a gold World Cup in Jazz, silvers for Character and Classical, bronze for Overall Choreography, and the Special Overall Catalonia Award for the Most Outstanding of the International Teams. They’re due in Tralee this evening where they’ll be greeted by Mayor of Kerry Pat McCarthy, before boarding an open top bus at Ballygarry House Hotel at 6 o’clock, and travelling through Boherbee, Denny Street, and onto the Fels Point Hotel.
