According to Chief Superintendent Fred Garvey the only deterrent to speeding appears to be greater garda visibility and greater checks. He says each year there are around 800 collisions in the county and this number is not falling despite the introduction of penalty points. Speaking on this mornings Kerry Today he said while the focus tends to be on fatalities the consequences of a collision can be very serious also.
