Over 250 students are attending a 1916 commemoration event in The Rose Hotel today. Students from a number of youth organisations and schools in the county are commemorating the past and celebrating the present through music and the arts in competitions. The event opened with a short screening of the Gael Linn film ‘Mise Éire’ and students then presented their original work in creative writing, public speaking, film, music, composition, drama, poetry and visual arts. It is organised by the Kerry Education and Training Board and co-hosted by Kerry Music Education Partnership. The winners will perform in front of a national audience at the Education and Training Boards conference in Killarney in September.
