Kerry Fine Gael senator Paul Coghlan is welcoming approval for a proposal to set up a new task force to tackle cross-Border crime. Senator Coghlan secured agreement for the proposal at a meeting of the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly, of which he is a member. He said that cross-Border police cooperation is vital in tackling the scourge of criminality associated with paramilitary groups. Senator Coghlan added that everything must be done to optimise the capacity of law enforcement officers to deal with the problem.
