Meanscoil na Toirbirte in Dingle had the largest number of students partaking in degree courses last year according to a survey recently released. 41% of students from the vocational school in Killorglin attend university to diploma or certificate level. The majority of the student population in Tralee I.T. previously attended secondary schools in Kerry. The survey shows over 200 students sat the leaving cert in Mercy Mounthawk in Tralee last year. Of this figure almost half of the students in the school attended university to degree level.Other schools showing a trend of cert and diploma courses include The Convent and St Michael`s secondary school in Listowel with a 38% participation rate. On a national level Kerry schools participation to national universities is not high. However secondary schools in Kerry are compared with larger populated schools around the country. As the largest populated school in the county, mercy mounthawk is the only school listed in the top 20 for attendance to an N.U.I.
