Three projects in the county have received over 8,000 euro funding from the heritage council. The biggest single grant is for Gleninchaquin Park in Tousist. They are to is to receive over 5,000 euro. A grant of 2,700 has been allocated to bird watch West Kerry to assist them in raising awareness of endangered birds in the county. The group focuses on the corncrake, tern, barn owl and hen harrier among others. Iveragh Birdwatch is to receive 750 euro towards its awareness lectures on protected species.
