On Friday afternoon Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were called to the assistance of two walkers on the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks. The two young Irish men left Cronin’s yard early on Friday morning to climb Carrauntoohil. They ascended the Devil’ Ladder before getting into difficulty midway between the top of the Ladder and the summit. The climbers called for help at 2.00pm on Friday and were reached by Team members at approximately 4.00pm. A group of passing walkers had stopped to give the two men assistance. The men, who were uninjured but exhausted and cold, were given warm clothing, food and drinks. They were secured with a rope and assisted down the mountain by Kerry Mountain Rescue.
