Kerry MABS launch ‘Keep the Wolves from the Door’ Christmas campaign

Credit unions in Kerry have teamed up with the money advice and budgeting services to launch their ‘Keep the Wolves from the Door’ campaign.

They have created a ‘Christmas Survival Guide’ to help those worried about financial struggles.

Along with guidelines for spending during the Christmas period, the campaign will focus on personal micro credit loans and avoiding the trap of credit cards and moneylenders.

The ‘Keep the Wolves from the Door’ campaign has been launched at Kerry MABS Office, Tralee.

CEO of Tralee Credit Union, Fintan Ryan says their aim is to combat moneylending over Christmas, which is a time when many people get into financial difficulty.

He said they hope to prevent the quick option of going to a moneylender, which in the long run costs more money, rather than going to their credit union or other financial institutions.

He also stated that people should not panic ahead of the festive period.
Co-ordinator of Kerry MABS, Gerry Doyle said he is delighted to launch the campaign along with the Kerry Credit Unions.

He said that  moneylenders  consider it their busiest time of the year.

He said it is important that people reach out to MABS services if they have concerns.
