Kerry Junior Football team progress to the final of the All Ireland Junior Championship after defeating Sligo Kerry got off the mark by getting the first score. Kerry made an early substitute when Captain Thomas Hickey came off and was replaced by DarA Roche. Kerry had a comfortable lead but Sligo came right back into it approaching half time and only put 2 points between the sides. Sligo played lovely open football and looked the better of the first half. At half time it was all square at 8pts a piece. Kerry made another change in the second half where Edmond Walsh replaced Paul Kennelly. Kerry improved the second half, with the movement and passing of the ball, running into open space. Alan O’Donoghue replaced Brian Crowley. Kerry piled on point after point, making it 15pts to 8pts after 11 minutes of the second half. Kerry’s goal came from Dara Roche. After that, it was plain sailing for the Kingdom. Dennis Daly scored Kerry’s second goal to leave it Kerry 2-21 Sligo 10pts. Kerry go on to face either Cavan or Scotland, which is being played today.
