Kerry hauliers hit by Calais immigration chaos

The President of the Irish Road Haulage Association is calling on the EU to hold an emergency meeting about the migrant situation in Calais. Irish Road Haulage Association Verona Murphy says drivers face dangers in Calais and also face huge fines if they are caught with a migrant on board. Two of the IRHA’s largest continental hauliers come from Kerry, Daly’s of Castleisland and O’Neill’s of Tralee. She says the conditions in the migrant camp in Calais known as The Jungle are also extremely inhumane. Ms Murphy says perishable goods are being destroyed at huge costs to Irish producers due to contamination. [audio_player src=””]
