Kerry garden takes Best in Show at Bloom

Kerry has won a best in show award at Ireland’s most important garden festival.

Kells Bay Gardens defeated 32 other competitors to take Best in Show in the nursery display category at Bloom in Dublin.

It also won a gold medal in the competition which is taking place in the Phoenix Park.


Billy Alexander is the owner of Kells Bay Gardens.

He says his winning display showcases the variety of ferns from across the globe that can be seen in Kells Bay.

Meanwhile, a tutor with the Kerry Education and Training Board has also won an award at Bloom for her creative flower hat piece.
Kathleen Barrett from Athea, who’s a horticulture tutor with Kerry ETB,  won a silver guild ‘Vision of Beauty’ award  for her imaginative design.

 

Killarney woman Tricia Harris won a silver medal for her show garden, ‘A Space to Collaborate’ created with architect Seamus Furlong.
