Kerry farmers are being warned about a new telephone scam, which is believed to be specifically targetting those working in the agriculture sector. dan_mccarthy Kerry County Councillor Dan McCarthy received an early morning call to his landline, from a man claiming to warn him about a computer hack. The caller asked if Cllr McCarthy was working in the agriculture field, and then tried to access details of his computer. The Kenmare-based Independent councillor did not fall for the scam, but is concerned that other farmers might be taken in, especially as many of them will currently be receiving farm payments: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/50417/medium/”] Meanwhile Kerry-based MEP Se├ín Kelly is also warning people to be wary of potential fraudsters trying to scam money online or over the phone by obtaining banking details, passwords and other personal information.
