Kerry farmers seek exemption from Capital Gains Tax.

Farmers in the county who have to give up their land for new roads want an exemption from capital gains tax. At the moment, any compensation paid to landowners is subject to a 20 per cent tax. Farmers affected by the new Farranfore to Killarney route will face compulsory purchase orders later this year. Chairman of Kerry IFA`s Industrial Committee James Doyle says a special case should be made for them.
