Kerry County Council has failed to meet its own targets for providing Traveller accommodation. The local authority has delivered only 66 of the 140-unit target it set itself between 2009 and 2013. This equates to a shortfall of 53pc. Analysis by the Irish Traveller Movement on the implementation of the Traveller Accommodation Programmes found that just nine local authorities have met their targets. A report in today’s Irish Independent shows that Kerry was among the 25 of the country’s city and county councils that didn’t reach their targets.
