Kerry dog owners reminded of micro-chipping deadline next week

Kerry dog owners are being reminded that the deadline for micro-chipping is fast approaching. dogFrom the 31st of March, it’ll be compulsory for every owner in the country to have their dog micro-chipped. The requirement was signed into last year, and is being rolled out on a phased basis; it began with pups last September and is being expanded to all dogs from the end of this month. The cost of a vet inserting a microchip varies, but some animal charities are offering the service free this month. John O’Connor of the Irish Veterinary Association says dog owners need to get their pet’s micro-chipped before Friday week, but adds it’s very important to update the information if the owner or contact details change.
