Euro notes in shopping trolleyKerry County Council wrote off or waived over €9 million in commercial rates in a single year. The figures for 2014 are contained in a report by the National Oversight and Audit Commission. They show that during 2014, Kerry County Council collected €32.7 million of the €42 million due in commercial rates, however 22 per cent or €9.6 million worth of rates were either waived or written off by the local authority. The council has one of the higher collection rates in the country at 78 per cent.
