Kerry County Council gets over half a million euro to cover response to winter storms

FloodingKerry County Council has received government funding of over half a million euro (€535,000) to cover their response to the severe weather in December and January. The council was requested to submit details to the Department of the Environment, Community, and Local Government on the emergency response and immediate clean up operations following the winter storms. The council was allocated 290-thousand-euro (€290,770) for the severe weather events in late December and early January, and 245-thousand-euro (€244,447) for the storms in early December. Kerry County Council CEO Moira Murrell says without the support of the Department, the clean up costs would have severely impacted on the delivery on other council services.
